Our partner is a Switzerland-based newly established company that offers a secure SaaS CRM platform, designed for performance marketing, subscription billing, and affiliate management.
For their emerging team in Bulgaria, we are looking to hire an experienced and motivated technical leader on the role of:
VP OF ENGINEERING
The VP Engineering will ensure high-quality code, oversee onboarding for new developers, and guide the company towards becoming a SaaS leader in the CRM space.
Key responsibilities:
• 1. Engineering Leadership & Team Development
Build, scale, and lead an in-house development team of up to 15-20 engineers, ensuring high technical standards and a strong engineering culture.
Define team structure, hiring priorities, and growth plans in alignment with company goals.
Establish clear career development paths and mentorship programs for engineers.
Foster a culture of continuous learning, technical excellence, and accountability.
2. Code & Project Management Best Practices
Develop and implement best practices for software development, including coding standards, documentation, version control, and testing.
Oversee and improve the software development lifecycle, ensuring efficient sprint planning, agile workflows, and timely delivery of product features.
Drive automation, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps best practices to enhance deployment efficiency and system stability.
Ensure proper monitoring, debugging, and performance optimization practices are in place.
3. Technology & Architecture Strategy
Lead architectural decisions and ensure system scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
Ensure strong API-first, headless CRM architecture principles are followed, enabling seamless integrations.
4. Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams
Work closely with the Product team to refine and execute the CRM roadmap, aligning technical execution with business goals.
Collaborate with Operations and Customer Success teams to onboard customers and ensure the smooth and timely integration of requested features.
5. Establishment of a PMO (Project Management Office)
Set up a Project Management Office (PMO) to improve engineering productivity, streamline processes, and track key performance metrics.
Define KPIs to measure team efficiency, delivery timelines, and software quality.
Optimize resource allocation, workload balancing, and prioritization of development initiatives.
6. Security, Compliance & Infrastructure
Ensure security best practices are in place, addressing compliance requirements relevant to the business.
Oversee cloud infrastructure, monitoring solutions (e. g. , Grafana), and deployment processes.
Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers where necessary.
7. Transition from Outsourced to In-House Development
Oversee a smooth transition from outsourced teams to in-house engineering.
Manage knowledge transfer, documentation, and training processes for new hires.
Define the collaboration model between the remaining outsourced teams and the in-house team during the transition period.

Ideal candidate profile: A technical leader with a strong development background, capable of managing projects, teams, and strategic initiatives. Comfortable transitioning between coding, solutioning, and team leadership.
Candidate profile Character traits: Proactive, detail-oriented, technically hands-on, and collaborative.
What are the absolute must-haves?
• Located in Sofia
• Experience with Ruby on Rails
• Familiarity with headless architectures and API-first development
• Proven experience in scaling and managing development teams.
• Clear and effective communication skills to liaise with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
What are nice to haves?
• Knowledge of payment gateway integrations such as Stripe, Klarna, NMI Gateway, and others.
• Experience working with affiliate networks and understanding conversion-driven marketing strategies.
• Knowledge of advanced routing logic (e. g. , routing payments based on bank/card type for higher approval rates).
